Introduction The DEPAC TS thermosyphon system TS is a simple and reliable supply system for double mechanical seals. It can be used not only for DEPAC seals but also for other makes of double seal. The barrier medium should be a low viscosity, well lubricating fluid which is compatible with the product and has a high boiling point and high specific heat capacity. The viscosity of the barrier fluid should not be much higher than that of water on account of the high pipe resistance. ![]() |
PRESSURIZING If safety and/or technical product-related reasons require the barrier pressure to be higher than the pressure of the medium on the seal, an appropriate nitrogen buffer may be applied. ![]() COOLING It is always recommended to use a cooling system with cooling coils and cooling water in order to ensure the best possible circulation. ![]() MULTIPLE CONNECTIONS If one thermosyphon system is to be used for two seals, a forced circulation system in the form of a pump must be used on the barrier fluid line or the thermosyphon effect cannot be guaranteed. ![]() |

Level Switch The level switch is a monitoring device for the barrier fluid. It produces an electric signal which can be used to issue an alarm or to control automatic filling devices.
![]() Hand Pump as Filling Unit The hand pump can be used to top up the thermosyphon tank with barrier fluid. Refilling can be performed during operation. Mounting on the DEPAC TS tank is possible.
![]() Pressure Gauge/Thermometer Pressure gauges and thermometers are available for monitoring the pressure and temperature in the TS system.
![]() Circulating Unit - TS 50 The sealless circulating pump can be installed in the barrier fluid circuit in order to increase the fluid's cooling efficiency. An external 200 mA fuse must be installed in the supply circuit upstream from the pump. The external electrical connection must lie outside the potentially explosive area or must comply with an additionally approved type of protection.
